Happy Birthday Granddaddy!

"Happy Birthday Granddaddy! You always tell me that I should be a hat model so I thought I would send you a birthday wish wearing a hat! I hope you had a very relaxing day!"

"Oh I almost forgot...Mom and Dad say Happy Birthday too! We love you!"

Happy Birthday Jack!

"I tried to convince Mom to let me have cake to celebrate your big day but she just laughed. I hope that your Mom lets you have some cake. And if you are really lucky, some ice cream!" :-)

"By the way, Curious George says Happy Birthday too!"

Jack, Happy 3rd Birthday! We love you so very much!

Happy 1st Birthday Henry!

We had a wonderful day celebrating Henry's first birthday with a Dr. Seuss theme! Here is the birthday boy showing off his special Cat in the Hat t-shirt Mommy had made for the special occasion! :-)

The birthday boy with his Mimi...

The reason for the Dr. Seuss theme? He is obsessed with the books! During his party he brought several people the books for them to read to him. Here is Michele reading one to Henry...

Henry opening his birthday presents. He was a spoiled little boy!

Happy 1st Birthday Henry! (Part 2)

Here I am pretending to know how to ice a cake. I intelligently decided to purchase cupcakes for the guests so I just had to make Henry's cake. No real pressure since I knew he would just be destroying it. :-)

The finished Cat in the Hat cake...

The Birthday Boy taking in all of the attention...

"Happy birthday to me..."

Happy 1st Birthday Henry! (Part 3)

Henry was a little hesitant at first but very quickly he started digging in.

What crazy person thought it was a good idea to use RED icing on Henry's cake?! ;-)

Henry is still shoveling cake in his face while we try to take a family picture! That's my Little Man!

By the time he was finished, he had cake all in his hair, up and down both arms, all over his face, hands and of course, all over the high chair! I call that a successful first birthday cake!

Happy 1st Birthday Henry! You have made this one of the best years your Dad and I have ever had. We have been so lucky to watch you grow this year into a happy, hilarious, laidback little boy. We have so much to look forward to! We love you!

We cannot thank everyone who came from both near and far to help us celebrate this big day in our lives. We are also so appreciative of those who sent special birthday wishes to Henry. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful friends and family to help share these special times with us. We love you all!

The Swingset of Champions

Trey worked so hard on Henry's birthday swingset...working through both of his rare days off. He couldn't have done it without our friend Grant who came over with Josie and Nolan on Saturday to help. Thank you so very much Grant for spending time helping us on one of your very rare days off! :-)

"Don't forget that I helped too, Mommy and Daddy!"

Henry couldn't wait for it all to be finished. He HAD to test out that rock wall!

The finished project...isn't it fabulous?!

The Swingset of Champions (Part 2)

Henry checking out the slide...

(On a side note, doesn't Henry look like a little boy? The incredibly dirty shirt? The disheveled hair? The untied tennis shoes? Boy oh boy!)

Mommy's favorite part of the swingset? The glider. Here are Henry and I gliding away!

Henry's favorite part of the swingset?

Definitely the swing! :-)

Henry's First Haircut

So as you can see from his "before" picture, it was definitely time for Henry to get his first haircut.

Trey and I took Henry to Sport Clips which is where Trey gets his hair cut. Henry, occupied with a comb, sat in the chair by himself for a few minutes.

Then he started getting squirmy so we had him sit on Trey's lap. He didn't fuss at all but I was bribing him with Cheerios and his pacifier! ;-)

Here is Henry after his big boy haircut!

Not in your mouth Henry!

Henry was outside "helping" Trey and me mulch the gardens. He is showing me the piece of mulch as a warning that he is about to stick it in his mouth. Not in your mouth Henry!

I turned my back on him for a second and when I turned back around Henry had mulch all over his mouth!

He doesn't discriminate against eating other strange things either. He eats grass as well.

What is wrong with you son?! ;-)

Henry has a boo-boo! :-(

Henry definitely had some issues yesterday! He fell down and got two splinters in his hand and then he fell and hit his top gum! His gum bled and bled and bled. As soon as it stopped bleeding he would chew something and then it would start bleeding all over again. Yuck!

His injuries (notice the bloody mouth) definitely didn't slow him down though! Here he is clapping for himself. :-)

This picture is absolutely disgusting but his smile was too cute so I couldn't resist posting it!

Henry's One-Year Appointment

Henry had his one-year pediatrician's appointment this morning bright and early! We were so very lucky to have Trey there with us! Henry now weighs 24 lbs, 2 oz (75th percentile), has a height of 30 inches (60th percentile) and a head circumference of 46-1/2 cm (55th percentile). The pediatrician answered all of our questions (poor guy) and he said that Henry looked perfect! After his appointment, Trey and I treated Henry to some Chick-Fil-A breakfast and playtime in their playground! :-)

Henry received four immunizations - one in each thigh and one in each arm. The nurse was afraid Henry would be mad at her but he gave her a big smile even after she "shot" him! That's our sweet, sweet boy! Notice the Tweety Bird band-aid in each arm...

He also had his toe pricked for a hemoglobin check. His levels were perfect. That is why we want you to eat your fruits and veggies Henry!

Little Man was a little fussy today and needed some extra cuddle time tonight before bedtime. I was happy to give it to him. :-)
