I will never...

Before I had kids I would have said, "I will never let my kids pick out their own clothes." Ha! Now it is a game to see what Henry will come out of the room wearing!  During the week, I choose their clothes but on the weekend, for the most part, they are able to choose.  Charlotte always chooses a shirt with a character on it, usually Dora, Hello Kitty, or Minnie Mouse.  Henry usually chooses camouflage pants and his Cam Newton jersey (unless Mom hasn't done laundry fast enough).  ;-)

Looking good kiddos!  :-)

Charlotte's New Hat

Charlotte misplaced her winter hat just as it was starting to get really cold here. So we were at the mall one day and I let her pick out one in the clearance section.  I should have guessed that she would pick out the leopard-print kitty cat hat!  She loves this hat.  It used to be a struggle to get her to wear a hat but she wears this one everywhere!  And we can't go anywhere without someone telling her how much they love it too!  Even Henry's bus driver stuck her head out the window to ask Charlotte where she got her hat so she could get one!  :-)

"What did you expect Mom?!  I am fashion forward!"

On a side note, as soon as we got in the car from buying her new hat Charlotte says, "Oh look Mom! My other hat!" :-)

Friday Night Movie Night :-)

There is nothing better than spending Friday night curled up together watching "Despicable Me 2"!

Our Two Hooligans

Our two hooligans don't always get along.  Charlotte adores her brother and wants to be by his side every minute.  When he gets on the bus Charlotte says, "I miss you Buddy!" Henry will tolerate this up to a point but it can be especially annoying to him when he just gets home from school and wants some quiet time. They love each other but we have had to work on teaching her to give him space and teaching him to have lots of patience with her.  I am sure this will be a never ending process!

One of the things they love to do together is dance!  Put a Kidz Bop CD in they are best friends again!  :-)

Fighting or not fighting, these two are our favorite in the whole world! :-)

The Pharmacist's Assistant

Charlotte went with me one morning to get my flu shot. She kept rubbing my arm and asking if I was okay and telling me over and over, "Good job Mom!" Afterwards, the pharmacist said, "Let me get you a lollipop for doing such a great job!" Naturally I was thinking she would give me the lollipop but she handed it to Charlotte! Charlotte thought it was hilarious that I got the flu shot and she got the lollipop! :-)

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Mommy!"

Our Basketball Champ

It makes a HUGE difference when the kids and I are able to get outside in the afternoon but unfortunately it has just been too cold to do that.  (I am sure our Northern friends and family are rolling their eyes!)  We were thrilled this week when there were a couple of warmer afternoons for us to play outside!

Henry is currently playing basketball  in the YMCA league.  He is not only enjoying it but doing a great job too!  We are lucky that our neighbor so generously lets us perfect his basketball skills in her driveway!  Henry and I like to take turns shooting the ball until we score and there are plenty of times he scores in less shots than I do!  :-)

He shoots!  He scores!

Charlotte, on the other hand, likes to put her little basketball on the ground and kick it. She is definitely going to be our soccer player! :-)

Bus / Rest Stop ;-)

Henry's bus picks up right in front of our neighbor's house. One morning she had an old couch set out front for trash pickup and the kids at the bus stop thought they had won the lottery! Waiting for the bus while lounging on a couch?  Sounds like a fantastic start to the day!  :-)

She loves herself!

On the nights Trey is at home, we always give Charlotte the choice of who bathes her and puts her in bed. One night we jokingly asked Charlotte, "Who do you love more? Mommy or Daddy?" And Henry chimes in, "Or do you love me more?" Charlotte thinks about it and seriously responds, "I love ME more!" :-)

This Girl's Hair ;-)

Everywhere we go people comment on how beautiful Charlotte's hair is, how it looks like doll hair, how they wish they had curls like she has, how shiny it is, and on and on.  And it is absolutely beautiful.  But this girl...

...likes her hair in her face.

We have tried rubber bands, bobby pins, a million types of barrettes, little bows, big bows, headbands, hair bands. She does not even like when I try to put it behind her ears! I have tried bribing, being stern, and acting like I don't care.  Mommy even pretends to love to wear Charlotte's bows in her hair! :-)

"Not falling for it Mom!"

So I am at the point now where I let it go.  She is beautiful no matter what and it does not bother her in the least so I try not to let it bother me!  Our sweet girl is a little set in her ways, can't you tell?! ;-)

Monster Jam!

Yesterday afternoon Trey and Henry along with Trey's friend Kris and his son Grayson went to Monster Jam (a monster truck show in case you have no idea what I am talking about)!

Henry was in hog heaven because for once we let him wear his camo pants, monster truck shirt, and faux-hawk hairstyle all at the same time! ;-)

They had a wonderful time together.  And Henry was even more excited because his favorite monster truck, Grave Digger, won the competition!

Charlotte and I missed our two boys but were so glad that they were able to have the afternoon to have fun together!  We love you Trey and Henry!

Go Panthers!

Today, the four of us took the train uptown to tailgate with our friends Katie and Jay before the Carolina Panthers / San Francisco 49ers playoff football game!

The kids loved the tailgate and we weren't there five minutes before Henry had his hands on some Bojangles chicken!  :-)

After Katie and Jay left to go to the game, we were able to walk a couple of blocks and play some football in an open grassy area. Have I mentioned before how beautiful this city is?!

"Forget Cam Newton, put me in the game!" ;-)

After play time, we had lunch uptown and then took the train back home!

It was certainly a disappointing loss for our Panthers but we had a wonderful time together, the weather was beautiful, and we loved every minute of our time with Katie and Jay! :-)

Henry lost a tooth! :-)

Henry lost his first tooth! It had been loose for a couple of weeks but over Christmas it finally came out!  I think his cousin Jack helped a little because they rode together to the Nashville Children's Museum and as soon as they get out of the car Henry popped his tooth right out!  :-)

Henry wanted to leave the Tooth Fairy a note asking her to leave his tooth so that he could show his dad and his friends when he got home from Nashville! ;-)

The Tooth Fairy left him $5! Henry said that she must be rich! Uh...no! :-)
