Morning at the Zoo (Part 1)

Trey and I decided to take Henry to the zoo one weekend morning.

Henry's absolute favorite animal at the zoo...the monkeys! These monkeys make a very loud, strange bellowing sound which puffs their necks out. They are so loud, you can hear them in the zoo parking lot! Henry thinks it is hilarious when they swing around on the branches.

This monkey was having a laidback morning...no swinging or bellowing for him!

Mommy's favorite exhibit used to be the gorillas. That is until one of the gorillas escaped and started roaming around the zoo during business hours! Now I am thinking the glass that separates us from them definitely does not look thick enough! ;-)

We have one peek-a-boo loving kid! :-)

Morning at the Zoo (Part 2)

Funny Henry story - Henry cannot pass up this cow without milking it. (I am assuming Trey taught him how to do this because I certainly didn't! Haha!) This particular morning there was no "milk" coming out of the udders. Henry turned to us and said "Needs new batteries!" Hahaha! Kids today and their technology! :-)

Trey and Henry petted and fed the non-battery powered cow and then they let him lick their fingers! YUCK! Henry absolutely loved it!

Moving onto some giraffe drool!

Henry, thank you for another fun morning at the zoo! We love you!

Whatcha listening to Henry?

Playing at the Park

After the Easter egg hunt, Henry and I spent some time at the other areas of the park. This was our first visit to this beautiful state park and we were so glad we found it! We have since been there three or four times! :-)

"Wheeee!"

"All of this fun and excitement has worn me out!"

"Hi Goose! You wanna hold hands?" (Henry's actual words...hahaha!)

We spent the most time playing peek-a-boo amongst the gorgeous trees.

Thank you for a fantastic day Buddy! I love you!

Easter Egg Hunt (Part 1)

The Saturday before Easter Trey had clinic so Henry and I decided to go to the Easter egg hunt at the state park not far from us! It was such a well-done event and we had a blast! We will definitely make this a tradition!

They had little stations set up where the kids could play games like ring toss, soccer, golf, baseball, and many others.

Really funny story - There was a dad at the tee next to us with his son who was a little older than Henry. The kid was struggling with the concept of hitting the ball with the club. The dad pointed to Henry and said, "Watch him! He knows what he is doing!" :-) I am pretty sure that Henry did not know what he was doing at all although he does like to hit balls with any stick, bat, club we let him have! We have since purchased a golf set and are now working on Henry's "technique"! :-)

He did need some assistance however making contact between the bat and ball! ;-)

After the kids finished at each station they were allowed to pick out some candy which was definitely an incentive for Henry to participate!

Henry's favorite booth was the one where he could "fish" for some candy. He kept trying to look behind the stand to figure out where the candy was coming from! He is definitely his father's child! ;-)

Easter Egg Hunt (Part 2)

The best part was that they had an Easter egg hunt set up for each age group. It is much more enjoyable when the big kids are not stomping all over the little ones to get the candy!

Henry was pretty hesitant with the whole idea at first. I think he was trying to figure out why there was candy all over the place and why I was letting him pick it up! ;-)

So Mommy was not very smart and completely forgot Henry's Easter basket! We had to improvise and use the diaper bag to hold his candy. ;-) Get anything good Little Man?!

All of the kids also got a little stuffed animal after the hunt. Henry absolutely loved his frog!

Forget the games and the Easter egg hunt! The absolute highlight of Henry's day was petting the bunny rabbits! He was absolutely dying to hold one in his arms but Mommy had to draw the line. I did not want to explain to the owner how the bunny got hurt by my not-so-gentle son! ;-)

Mommy and her most favorite little guy...

And yes, there was an Easter bunny but Henry did not want to have anything to do with him and I did not dare force it! ;-)

Our Little Monkey ;-)

Lake Carolina Oyster Roast 2010

Every year Lake Carolina here in Columbia puts on an Oyster Roast. Although Trey, Henry, and I do not eat oysters it was a fun excuse to get together with some great friends and enjoy the beautiful spring weather! It did not hurt either that you could also get a plate of bbq from our favorite bbq restaurant in Columbia!

"You got anything good in that cooler? Milk?" ;-)

Henry always loves spending time with his best bud Nolan!

Miss Abigail was so kind to share her Dora the Explorer toy with the boys. One drove and the other pushed and then they switched places. So cute!

Henry and I are cherishing every minute we get to spend with Trey!

For The Birds

Henry absolutely loves birds. Since we don't have many trees in our yard Trey likes to hang bird feeders to attract the birds. And boy, do they!

"I think it is filled high enough, Dadda!"

Henry working hard to carry the bird feeder to the backyard...

"All set! Now where are all of the birds?"

Henry goes tent camping in our den! ;-)

Henry's new favorite thing to play with...his tent! It has become a place where he loves to read, watch TV, or just hang out with Bunny and anyone else who will go in the tent with him! :-)

Can't you tell how much he loves it?!

St. Patrick's Day Fish Fry

Our friends Beth, Gene, and Garett were gracious to invite us and others over to their home for a St. Patrick's Day Fish Fry! They did not just have fried fish but fried shrimp, cinnamon sugar sweet potato fries, and ice cream! And believe me when I tell you, the food was delicious!

Henry all decked out in his St. Patty's Day green...

"Where ya' headed Garett? You wanna ride?" ;-)

This was our very unsuccessful attempt at getting the very squirmy boys together for a group picture! Here they are - Austin, Garett, Nolan (hiding), and Henry!

Thanks Beth, Gene, and Garett for a wonderful evening filled with fabulous food and fantastic company! We had a blast! :-)

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Henry and I met up with our friends Stephanie and Abigail for the St. Patrick's Day parade here in Columbia. A little bit of a letdown after just being at Mardi Gras but we had a fantastic time together! :-)

After the parade we went to a kids' carnival nearby. The kids ran around together while Stephanie and I tried to gulp down a few bites of lunch. Both Stephanie and I are used to having to manage things without our husbands but we both admitted that it has become increasingly difficult now with toddlers! You cannot take your eyes off of them for a second especially when there are two around! :-)

So I kept telling Henry that there would be lots of candy thrown at the parade but unfortunately we were at the very end and no one had any candy left. Oops! To make up for it I picked up some M&M's for him at the grocery store.

I thought M&M's were supposed to melt in your mouth, not in your hands or in Henry's case, his face! :-)

"Where is all of the candy you promised me?!"

Thanks Stephanie and Abigail for a fun morning out!

The Cat Hat

Josie and I took the boys to a program called "Hands on Art" at our local library. We read books, sang songs, and then did a craft project all based on the topic of cats. Luckily for Henry who loves hats, the craft project was a cat hat!

Henry, The Digger Man

Concentration :-)

Update on potty training...no, we have not officially started potty training. Henry is very curious about the potty and wants to be in the bathroom with us at ALL times. He goes pee pee on the potty every night before bathtime. And he loves, loves, loves to watch himself use the restroom (see above picture). Trey, Henry, and I have a mini-vacation in May but the plan is to officially start when we return. Stay tuned!

The game of peek-a-boo never gets old in our home! :-)

Hmmmm, where's Henry?! (And yes, that is a waste basket!)

"Here I am Mamma!"

Don't tell Trey...

...but I let Henry play with my makeup while I was trying to finish getting ready! ;-)

He used LOTS of concealer on the face! I think he watches Mommy using LOTS! ;-) And of course, powder all over his face and clothes!

Henry's Uncle Tommy calls makeup "war paint" so we will tell Trey that Henry has "war paint" all over his face! Hahahaha! :-)

Fun Visit from Friends :-)

Henry and I were so lucky to have some great friends from Knoxville come visit us! It worked out that both of our husbands were going to be gone the same weekend so it was the perfect time to get together! Camille, Wyatt, and Grace had a very eventful (not in a good way) car trip so we really, really appreciated them making the difficult trip here.

Camille and I took the kids to our Childrens' Museum and to Chick-Fil-A on Saturday. The rest of the weekend we visited while the kids played, played, and played some more!

Henry, Grace, and Wyatt who was concentrating on his sidewalk chalk artwork...

Luke and Camille, you sure have two loving, beautiful, and kind children!

Camille, Wyatt, and Grace, thank you again for spending the weekend with us! Henry and I both loved every minute of it! Hopefully we will see you guys again soon but this time Henry and I will come to you! ;-)
