Dr. Henry
This past week Henry's preschool was talking all about families. On Thursday the children were asked to dress up like their favorite family member.
Well hands down Henry's favorite family member is his Daddy so on Thursday Henry dressed up as Dr. Henry!
He looked absolutely adorable dressed up in his costume complete with scrubs, white coat, stethoscope, personalized name badge, and scrub hat from his Daddy! :-)
"Can you stop taking pictures for a second? I need to check on my patients!" ;-)

Owls vs. Foxes :-)
Henry's first soccer game on Saturday was so much fun! It was a real match-up between the Owls and the Foxes and the three-year olds did not disappoint! :-)
The parents were laughing hysterically on the sidelines throughout the whole game. Kids were crying on the field because they wanted to wear the red jersey and not the blue jersey. Kids would grab the ball and throw it into the goal. Some kids would not even play at all. Henry did great although I don't think he touched the ball once! He just loved running around with the other kids. He lasted about 20 minutes and then he was done and ready to go get doughnuts. The coaches called the game after about 30 minutes because there were no kids left on the field! :-)
Henry was thrilled that his Daddy took the day off to come watch him play! It was really cute because Trey was just as excited!
Henry and his best friend and fellow Owl, Hunter...
At the end of the game the coach told the team that he thinks they won 100-0. I don't know how anyone could keep track because many times both teams would kick the ball in the opponent's goal! ;-)
Henry and two of his cheerleaders...
We are so proud of you Henry! I cannot think of a better way to spend Saturday morning than to watch you laughing and having so much fun! :-)

Family Update
I want to keep everyone updated on all of the things our family has to look forward to this year. Trey is in his 6th and final year of his general surgery residency here in Columbia. He is in the process of interviewing for a minimally invasive/laparoscopic fellowship. It is another match (like residency) so he will submit a rank list at the end of October and we will find out on November 2nd what program he has matched with. Most of the programs are one year although the two programs in North Carolina are two years. So Match Day in November, putting our home on the market in January, residency graduation and a move in June, and then Trey starts fellowship on July 1st! Whew!
I am so very proud of Trey not only because he has been an accomplished resident but also because despite the extremely long hours and lots of time spent away from each other he has still remained a wonderful husband and father. We love you so much and are all really looking forward to this next chapter! :-)

My Punkin Heads :-)
Charlotte's BIG Weekend
Charlotte had an eventful Labor Day weekend. Her bottom two teeth popped through and she pulled herself up! I think she finally got fed up with us not letting her play with Henry's trains so she took matters into her own hands and pulled herself right on up on Henry's train table! :-)
Way to go Baby Girl!
One of her top teeth has since popped through and the other one is not far behind. Getting in four teeth in a short time span makes for lots of fussy days and sleepless nights from our otherwise extremely happy baby. It is hard to see her in so much pain so I am hoping that it is over soon!
I think Charlotte is also close to crawling. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks for a short time. Henry has been working really hard trying to teach her to crawl although I have been trying to tell him that once she starts moving she won't stop! ;-)

Labor Day Weekend
We were so very, very lucky that Trey had a full three days off for Labor Day weekend. I cannot remember the last time that he even had two days off where he didn't have to go into the hospital at least for a little while. We had considered taking a trip but decided instead just to have a relaxing weekend as a family at home.
Trey and Henry taking a break from our walk/bike ride to check out the Saluda River...
Trey and Henry had a guy's day out on Monday. Trey took Henry to Toys 'R Us to pick out a toy (Nerf gun), then to a sporting goods store to buy his cleats and shin guards for soccer, and then Trey treated Henry to his first ever movie in a theatre....
...CARS 2! Henry loves popcorn but decided on Nerds candy as his treat. Henry lasted about 1-1/2 hours and then was ready to go but loved seeing Lightning McQueen and Mater on the BIG screen!
And as a bonus, Trey let me take a nice long nap on Saturday and have a girls' night out on Sunday. We were all in hog heaven! :-)

Soccer!
Henry is playing soccer in a YMCA league this Fall and he had his first practice on Thursday evening. The coach did the best he could but trying to get ten 3-year olds to do anything as a group is a challenge to say the least!
Henry all geared up ready for practice...
"All hands in! Go OWLS!" (Yes, their mascot is the owl! Haha!)
Henry was ecstatic to learn that one of his best friends from preschool was on his team! Here are Hunter and Henry having an after-practice snack. :-)
All I am hoping for is a great season full of fun and laughter for Henry and his teammates! Go Owls! :-)

Time at the Park
Since the weather has been slightly cooler, we have been spending more time outside at different parks around the city.
Henry's new favorite way to spend time at the park...riding his bike!
Charlotte loves being outside no matter what we are doing! Here she is enjoying some time on the swings...
Come on cooler weather!

My Shopping Buddies
Both of my kids are usually very well-behaved while shopping. (I say "usually" because we all have our moments!) I stay armed with lots of books, chew toys for Charlotte, trucks for Henry, and of course snacks. Their limit is three stops total. Any more than that and I am just asking for trouble! :-)
They are always entertained at the stores with the race car carts!
Charlotte is a really happy shopper now that she is out of her infant car seat. She doesn't even mind when Henry wants to get sidetracked in the toy aisles for hours! :-)
"Okay, put a fork in me. I am done!" :-)

Slime!
Because the heat was so bad this summer I had to come up with lots of fun inside projects for the afternoons when we normally would be out playing. Making slime was one of Henry's favorites!
Henry adding the food coloring in very carefully...
Stirring it all up...
"Time to dig in!" :-)
Slime!
By the way, the medal he is wearing is from his participation in our Library summer reading program. He read so many books to receive a medal in a medal ceremony complete with music and applause from library employees. He was so proud!

Thundercats!
When my sister first became pregnant I sent her a picture of me on a Friday night dressed up in some sort of costume while playing with Henry and told her that her Friday nights will never be the same after baby Kate arrived. :-)
A year later my Friday nights still look the same....
I am playing Thundercats with my basher (Henry's word for guns) made of gear parts and per Henry I am wearing a duck-taped helmet so as not to get hurt. ;-)
Henry getting prepared to go fight monsters with his duct-taped sword tucked into his preppy Gap belt...
