Josie's Baby Shower

The weekend Trey and Henry were out of town I helped throw a baby shower for my wonderful friend Josie.

Melissa and Beth (the other hostesses), Josie, and me...

It was Charlotte's first social outing and she could hardly contain her excitement! :-)

I was a very happy Mommy thrilled to be showered, dressed, and out of the house catching up with her wonderful friends! And Charlotte cooperated by sleeping in the Baby Bjorn pretty much the whole entire time! YEAH Charlotte!

My second family...I love these girls! ;-)

Beth and Melissa did the majority of the work and put on a beautiful shower to celebrate Josie and her baby girl. We cannot wait to meet her! Josie's son, Nolan is only 4 months older than Henry and it has been so much fun to watch them grow up together. Our little girls will only be 3 months apart and I know they will be instant friends too! :-)

Trey's April Vacation (Part 1)

Trey had a week of vacation at the beginning of April and he decided to spend a few days with Henry at his parents' cabin on their first ever "man" trip. I think this was a little different than the "man" trips Trey used to take with friends before kids. :-) Regardless they had a wonderful few days filled with hiking, digging in the dirt, building fires, and fishing!

Henry was anxious to try out his fishing pole, a Christmas gift from his granddaddy. Looks like he is ready to roll! :-)

Granddaddy watching his grandson, the fisherman...

Henry's first fishing trip was a success! Look at that fish! :-)

(By the way, Henry is already telling fisherman's tales. You ask him how big the fish was and he stretches his arms out as wide as they go! Hahaha!)

All of that fun wiped Henry out!

Betsy and Joel, thank you for a wonderful weekend away for Trey and Henry. They both had a fantastic time and made a lot of memories. And Trey, thank you for spending that priceless time with Henry. He is very lucky to have you as his Daddy!

Trey's April Vacation (Part 2)

After Trey and Henry got back into town we spent a fun morning at the zoo. Charlotte slept the whole time which gave Trey, Henry, and me some great time to spend together.

My two monkeys posing with a great big monkey... :-)

Trey's April Vacation (Part 3)

The second part of the vacation we spent trading in my old Toyota Corolla and purchasing a new car...a Nissan Altima!

The Corolla was a wonderful car but only had one working seatbelt in the back and it would have cost us as much as the car was worth to get it fixed. It is nice now to have two reliable cars that we are able to use for our whole family!

"What's for dinner?!"

Ice Cream Treat

It is already HOT here so we decided to all go get ice cream one evening. Well not all of us...I had to eliminate the majority of dairy from my diet for a while until we figured out if Charlotte had the milk protein allergy like Henry did. No ice cream for Mommy...not fun!

That didn't stop Henry from digging into his cotton candy ice cream with sprinkles!

"Yummy in my tummy!"

Our silly boy...

Good to the last drop...

Charlotte giving Henry the evil eye since she couldn't have any ice cream either...haha! :-)

Big Brother Henry

One of the biggest concerns I had when pregnant was how Henry was going to handle having a little sister. He was definitely used to having my undivided attention. We were involved in so many activities and spent so much time planning fun activities with friends. I knew things were going to change drastically and I worried about how Henry would deal with that change. After all, toddlers are not known for just going with the flow! :-)

From the moment he first laid eyes on Charlotte he was completely enamored with her. He was taking every inch of her in. He insisted on seeing all of her fingers and toes. And his first comment was on the fact that Charlotte didn't have any eyebrows! :-)

He grinned from ear to ear while holding his brand new sister...

To help ease the transition when she came home, "Charlotte" brought her big brother a gift...Buzz Lightyear! He shocked us all when he shared Bunny with her because he does not share Bunny with ANYONE!

Henry thought that she would enjoy playing with his new Etch-A-Sketch. ;-)

One morning I ran quickly in the bedroom to get dressed while unfortunately Charlotte was screaming at the top of her lungs. I heard it get really quiet in the den so I ran back out. I found Henry sitting next to her chair singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and she was lovingly staring at him. Talk about melting my heart!

To say that Henry has been absolutely amazing through all of this is a complete understatement. We had a week or two of some issues but even with that he was still such a sweet, wonderful big brother to Charlotte. A friend commented on the fact that Henry lights up whenever he talks about Charlotte and that is very true. You can really tell that he already loves her as much as we do.

Henry, your Daddy and I wonder all of the time how we got so lucky to have you for our son. You have such a kind, generous heart and Charlotte could not have asked for more in a big brother. We all love you so very, very much Buddy!

Sleeping Beauty

Two nights ago Charlotte slept through the night...830p to 8a! Trey and I both went into her room to check on her because she had not made even a peep all night long! And last night she slept 815p to 515a, ate, and then slept again until 9a! It has been a LONG time since I have slept for more than 3-4 hours at a time and it feels good! :-)

So we don't yet have Charlotte sleeping her crib. She suffers from reflux so it is best to keep her sleeping upright. For all of my pregnant friends, the Fisher Price bassinet rocker has been wonderful!

Keep up the good work Charlotte!

Charlotte Aimée Bradley

I thought I would give a Charlotte recap since on the blog I went from being pregnant to having a 10-week old. Although most days it does feel like the past 10 weeks have been a complete blur! :-)

After being on bedrest for two weeks due to high blood pressure, I was induced on January 27th at 37 1/2 weeks pregnant. Labor was long but the delivery was extremely quick and our perfectly healthy, absolutely beautiful Charlotte Aimée was born at 705p on January 27th weighing in at 7 lb, 5.1 oz and measuring 20 1/2 inches long.

This girl had the skinniest and longest legs, feet, and toes of any baby that I had ever seen! :-)

Her name...Trey loves names that have some sort of meaning to us. I like names that are strong, somewhat old-fashioned, and definitely not too trendy. Charlotte was one that we found in a baby book and both really liked. The name fit all of my criteria and it reminded Trey of North Carolina where we spent some of our favorite years. ;-)

For her middle name we were trying to come up with something French or something tied to one of our favorite cities, New Orleans. We decided on Aimée (pronounced Ay-may) which is definitely French and is my beautiful sister's middle name.

So there you go...Charlotte Aimée!

Our precious little girl did not exactly have the best timing. Charlotte was born on Thursday and Trey had a big annual surgery exam to take on Saturday. We were still in the hospital on Saturday so he had to reschedule it for Tuesday, 5 days after she was born. He was dealing with a hormonal wife, a newborn baby, and a huge test looming over his head...lucky man! He was amazing through it all and I am happy to report that he passed! :-)

She was the perfect newborn and had the most laidback disposition! Trey and I actually got quite a bit of sleep in the hospital because she was so content just being in the nursery sleeping or looking around! :-) She is definitely now not as quiet as the first couple of weeks but still very perfect and we love her to pieces!

Two-Month Old Charlotte

Here were Charlotte's stats at her two-month appointment -

Head circumference - 37 1/2 cm (57th percentile)
Height - 22 3/4 in (91st percentile)
Weight - 11 lb, 13 oz (90th percentile)

It looks like we have another chunky baby on our hands! Look at those leg rolls!

Charlotte had four immunizations - 3 were shots and 1 was given orally. She started screaming when they gave her the oral immunization and she did not stop screaming until we got into the car. Big crocodile tears! :-(

Love those pink camo band-aids though!

Some days it feels like it has only been two months and then some days it seems like we have known her a lifetime but we love her so very much and cannot imagine life without our beautiful Charlotte!

We may not be Irish...

...but we are definitely lucky!

Henry and Charlotte all decked out in their St. Patrick's Day outfits...

(Charlotte was upset when she found out we were not having a green beverage to celebrate. Honestly Mommy was a little upset too! Haha!)

Poor Charlotte woke up on St. Patrick's Day with her very first illness...the dreaded cold. She and I spent the morning at the pediatrician's office but left with no medicine since it was just a virus. Poor thing was congested for a while which made sleeping and eating a challenge but we were so very lucky that it did not turn into anything worse!

Sick but still so happy...

Post-Call Daddy

This is how Trey and Charlotte spend their time after he gets home post-call. ;-)

It's Springtime!

We finally had some warmer weather here in Columbia and Trey had a day off from work so the four of us headed over to a local park for some fun! It is a good thing we took advantage of our short Springtime because a couple of weeks later we are already experiencing summer temperatures in the 80s and 90s!

Daddy and Henry watching the boats and fishermen on the river...

Mommy and Henry taking a break...

Charlotte and I were strolling along the path and a snake jumped out at us! Just kidding about the jumping part but Trey said he was very impressed that I did not scream when I saw it! :-) Of course Henry thought the snake was awesome and we had to stand there and watch it until it completely disappeared.

No pictures of Charlotte because she slept in her stroller the whole entire time! She did not even wake up for all of the snake excitement! ;-)

Smile!

Our beautiful Charlotte started smiling at 6 weeks old. Trey, Henry and I cannot get enough of that sweet smile!

Now at 10 weeks old, she is really starting to coo and laugh out loud! The three of us are now are competing to see who can get her to laugh the hardest! :-)

One thing is certain though...she is definitely not starving for attention! We adore that sweet, chunky face! :-)
