A few weeks ago, Trey and I decided to convert Henry's crib over to a toddler bed. Surprisingly, he had not climbed out of his crib but I had caught him with his leg thrown over the side. We had been putting it off because we were not ready for the freedom the new set-up would give him!
Henry trying out his big boy bed...
So Trey and I were not fully prepared when it came to what Henry would really get into. We secured his dresser and nightstand to the wall and made sure he could not get into his closet. We forgot one key thing though...we did not secure his drawers shut.
This is what I found after the first naptime...things from his nightstand slid underneath his door...
...and child locks that were stored in his nightstand all over the floor...
...and dirty diaper trash bags from inside his dresser strewn all over! :-) We got smart and immediately added those extra child locks to every single drawer!
Overall Henry did really well with the transition. We put a door lock on the inside of his door so that he cannot get out of his room. Since our room is across the house from his we were worried that he would be roaming the house whenever he wanted. For about a week we had trouble with Henry falling asleep because he was too busy exploring. Now he will play some before and after his nap and in the morning but he falls asleep eventually with no problems! A month later his favorite saying is still, "Show my bed!" :-)
Here is a picture of a boy that loves, loves, loves his "new" bed!
